Some Assembly Required!

Since neither Justin, nor I, had accumulated much furniture before we were married, it was pretty much up to us to fill our house with the things it needed.

For one, the bar/peninsula in our kitchen needed bar stools so we got some from Justin's sister for Christmas. And of course with any new piece of furniture, you have to put it together. These stools from Target were pretty easy to put together.

And they proved to be extremely useful when we needed the extra seating during our Super Bowl party. It provided guests with stadium-like seating in our living room, lol...

Next, we ordered a coat rack from Pottery Barn using some gift cards we had received from our wedding. Yes, I know we married over a year and a half ago, but I guess I was waiting to make the right purchase!

This item proved easy to put together as well because it consisted of only a top and bottom (Can you spot the Louie?).

Here is a picture of the fully assembled coat rack from the Pottery Barn website (of course ours isn't as tidy as this picture. Ours is crammed with coats, scarfs and such). I liked it for its clean and simple lines as many coat racks are adorned with ugly curly-cues:

The last thing that we Justin put together was the Parker Spirits Cabinet from Crate and Barrel (again purchased with wedding and holiday gift cards). This item proved be the most challenging thing to put together.

The evening started off okay when Justin finished putting together the base...

However, when some of the holes weren't lining up he had to bust out the drill and ended up cracking the particle board in one area...whoopsy...I think he was close to karate chopping the whole thing...

45 minutes later the holes still weren't lining up so we said screw it (no pun intended) and just put the rest of it together. Although putting it together was a pain in the butt, I'm happy with the finished product and I think it looks great below the United Plates of America pictures we have in our dining room. Now all we need to do is fill the cabinet with alcohol, lol...

Have you went on a furniture purchasing frenzy only to come home and realize that parts of the furniture just aren't fitting together? Although, we hit a snag with our bar cabinet, I still consider Justin a hex key wielding expert!
